Carbon Monoxide Testing & Optimization
Carbon monoxide is a deadly gas that is a byproduct of the combustion process. If you have gas burning appliances (water heater, furnace, stove, oven, fireplaces), there is a high likelihood that CO is spilling into your living environment when the appliance is operating.
We test ambient CO levels throughout the building and also test the safety of each appliance. This involves an in-depth look at the venting of the appliance, the combustion of the gases, and the fuel/oxygen ratios of the appliance. All of these must be in balance and functioning properly to provide a safe and efficient combustion process. Appliances are never optimized when installed. So, there’s always an opportunity for energy savings in this arena.
Each type of appliance has different target-ranges of CO levels that should be found in the flue-gases/exhaust. The target temperature of the flue-gas also varies depending on the appliance type. If these temperatures and CO levels are not within the target-ranges, your appliance is not functioning at its optimum level...Which means that you’re wasting money and potentially endangering the health of the occupant.
Why does NEW equipment need to be tested?
